Horace Grant is living at Newmarket, New Hampshire as an unmarried farm superintendent when he signs up for the CEF on 7 December 1917 at Toronto.
He is described as follows
Height 5 ft 10¼ in

As only two months elapsed between Horace signing up and passing away, he would not have seen action.
Horace appears in the 1901 census at Lochgilphead, aged 9, the son of George C (28) and Annie E (29), brother of Jessie S (7), Maud M F (3) and John A (1).
It appears likely that his brother John Alexander died as an RAF pilot during the Second World War.
