Norman appears in the 1901 census, aged 9, the son of Alexander (50) and Christina (45) and brother of Ann (19), Donald (14), Chirsty (12), Angus (6) and Mary (2).
He was my grandmothers older brother.
ReplyDeleteNorman Macleod of Uachdar was only 17 when he died in 1914 and Norman of Gramsdale is also shown as a private in the record of his death (as per CWG record) but the War Memorial has one Pte. Norman MacLeod and one L Cpl. N MacLeod so I wonder which one is right. I suspect the older would be the more likely to have the higher rank but that's only my opinion. Any thoughts?
