Sgt Murdo Morrison RSF was killed in action in France on 8 April 1917. He was the son of Mr Donald Morrison, blacksmith, Amhuinnsuidhe. In civil life he was a gardener and worked for a number of years in Kilmarnock. On outbreak of war, he enlisted in the RSF and had been in France for the past two years. His parents have the sympathy of the community.

Murdo is found in the 1891 census at 6 Amhuinnsuidhe, aged 6, the son of Donald (39) and Emma (36) and brother of Barbara (11), Betsy Ann (9), Marion (8), Angus (6), Frederick (3) and Catherine (1). A decade later, Bella (6) is also a sibling.
