Thomas appears in the 1901 census aged 8, the son of James (48) and Sarah Ann (47) and brother of Frank (17), Rhoda (15), William James (13) and Duncan (11) and Thomas (8).

Thomas, an iron driller, died at 1269 Govan Road in Govan, Glasgow, having suffered from cerebro-spinal meningitis for 8 days. His death was attested by his brother Duncan two days later.

His brother Frank died in military hospital in 1919 having served with the Royal Engineers.

  1. I don't think the Thomas Coull who died on 11 November 1914 is the same Thomas Coull in the 1901 census mentioned. Thomas Coull was the son of Archibald Coull and Ann Butchart. There is a photo and story in the Dundee Courier March 14, 1916 to support this.

    2. Thank you for pointing this out, I mistakenly linked Thomas Coull from Dundee to this casualty on the North Uist war memorial. The evidence supporting the information above is strong (census return and death cert).
