We regret to announce that Corpl. Donald Morrison, Cameron Highlanders, died of wounds received in action on Sunday 30th ult., at King George Hospital, London. Prior to enlisting, Corp Morrison was employed as a Glasgow Corporation motorman. His remains were conveyed from London to Glasgow and interred at Dalbeth Cemetery with full military honours. The funeral, which was very impressive, took place from Holy Cross Chapel, Crosshill, Glasgow, on Wednesday, last week. A large number of female drivers and conductresses of the Glasgow Tramways attended, in uniform. The Corporation Pipe Band also attended the funeral and “Lochaber No More” was played at the grave. The Rev. Canon O’Brian, Crosshill, Glasgow, officiated at the church and grave.
Corporal Morrison had been previously wounded in France and in the arduous operations in connection with the recent advance he had his full share in the fighting. A son of the late Mr Alex. Morrison, General Merchant, Iochdar, Corpl. Morrison was only 23 years of age. He was a young man of courage and kindness. The Morrison family has suffered severely in this War. Another brother, Lance Corporal John Morrison, Cameron Highlanders, is reported missing (now believed killed) since the advance at Loos, in September, 1915. Much sympathy is exteneded to their bereaved mother, brothers ans sisters in their great loss. Corpl. Morrison leaves a young widow, who resided at Cathcart, Glasgow, and much sympathy is likewise extended to her in her sore bereavement
