The 1881 census shows Angus, aged 5 months, at 20 Smerclate with his parents Dougald (33) and Bella (28). Angus was one of five sons who served, the others being James, Donald John, Alexander and James (Sèamus Mòr). Donald John was lost when his ship was torpedoed off Rathlin Island in 1918.
